This is our celebrated travel design that opens with a sunrise ritual above the birthplace of gods — a true Lassithi Sky Safari over Crete’s most mythic plateau.

Before the island fully wakes, when the light is still silver and the air carries mountain silence, the balloon rises above the Lassithi Plateau. Windmills of Seli Ampelou become geometry. Each Crete hot air balloon safari operates under licensed commercial aviation standards, led by certified professional pilots trained in mountain wind corridor navigation. Launch coordinates across East Crete are selected according to real-time meteorological data — wind speed thresholds, thermal gradients, visibility and plateau air density.

Flight location may shift the day before or even minutes before take-off. This is not unpredictability — it is aeronautical discipline. Weather leads. Safety defines luxury.

We strongly advise scheduling your Lassithi hot air balloon flight early in your Crete itinerary to allow flexibility in case rescheduling becomes necessary.

WHO CAN FLY — RESPONSIBILITY & READINESS

Ballooning is gentle, but it is still aviation.

Children under 1.20m in height are not permitted. Participation is not recommended for pregnant guests or individuals with cardiovascular conditions, recent fractures or severe musculoskeletal injuries. Guests must be able to stand steadily during take-off and landing procedures.

Weight information is requested purely for lift calculation and basket balance. Average operational planning is based on 85kg (+/- 10kg). If a guest exceeds this, we require advance coordination to ensure correct balloon configuration.

This is not restriction — it is precision.

CLOTHING, EQUIPMENT & CONDUCT

Altitude introduces cooler air currents even in summer. Cotton layers, stable footwear and a light jacket are recommended. Sunglasses are essential at sunrise over the Dikti Mountains.

Cameras are welcome and encouraged. We recommend neck straps or secure attachments. During flight, guests may hold rope loops and take photographs freely. Smoking, alcohol consumption in the basket, and interference with operational equipment are strictly prohibited.

A full safety briefing is conducted before take-off. Landing requires slight knee flexion and adherence to pilot instruction.

The flight duration is approximately 40–50 minutes; in rare instances, early landing may occur due to shifting weather patterns. In such cases, flight time may be shortened without refund. This is standard practice in commercial balloon aviation worldwide.

Our Crete hot air balloon operations comply with Greek civil aviation authority regulations and environmental protocols. Launch zones are selected to minimize agricultural disturbance across Lassithi Plateau’s protected farmland.
